St. Jago High to Honour Alumni
Three distinguished alumni of the St. Jago High School, will be honoured at the annual awards banquet of the school's Past Students Association at the Jamaica Pegasus on Saturday, November 11, 2006. The honourees will be Accountant, Steadman Pitterson; Consultant Physician, Dr. Winston Williams and retired Insurance Executive & Sports Administrator, Lincoln "Happy" Sutherland, O.D. Rt. Reverend the Hon. Dr. Alfred Reid O.J., Bishop of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands Anglican Diocese, will be guest speaker at the banquet. Pitterson, Chairman & CEO of Tyre World Ltd., (previously Neal & Massy Jamaica Ltd.) is well known for his philanthropic work. A past president of the Kiwanis Club of North St. Andrew, he was voted Kiwanian of the Year 2004. Mr. Pitterson is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (FCA) and a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK. Dr. Williams, a Nephrologist, is a senior lecturer in Internal Medicine & Nephrology and Consultant Physician in Internal Medicine & Nephrology at the University of the West Indies Medical School, Mona. Awarded the Jamaica Centenary Scholarship following GCE A Levels in 1968, Dr. Williams has been listed in Marquis "Who's Who in the World" since 1998. He is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrologists, a member of several international medical organizations and is founder and past president (1986-1992) of the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica. Lincoln Balfour "Happy" Sutherland O.D., is one of Jamaica's most accomplished insurance executives. Retired branch manager of Crown Eagle Insurance Company, he served the Life Underwriters Association of Jamaica and the Life Insurance Companies Association of Jamaica with distinction and was named "Life Underwriters Association Man of the Year" in 1987. "Happy" as he is well known has also made outstanding contributions in the sporting arena serving as President of the Football Federation (1980-81), and for 42 years as President of the St. Catherine Football Association (1963-2006). He is a founding member of the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education & Sports. He was honoured by the Government of Jamaica in 2001, when he was conferred with the Order of Distinction. Patrons to the St. Jago Past Students Association banquet on November 11, 2006, will have the opportunity of winning gate prizes which include a return trip for two to any US or Caribbean destination served by Air Jamaica; a weekend for two at the Runaway Bay Heart Hotel & Hospitality Training Institute and an executive spa treatment from the Jencare Skin Farm. |
