The secretariat was established primarily to deal with correspondence, queries etc. from St. Jago Past Students. It also serves as the administrative offices of the St. Jago Past Students Association.

Membership in the St. Jago Past Students Association attracts an annual fee of One Thousand Dollars (J$1,000.00) which goes towards the maintenance of the secretariat, support for its various welfare and community service projects at the school.
